SHADES RADIO & HIP HOP LIVES.

Shades Radio - Bringing you the best in Hip Hop Kulture.

Hip Hop Lives - Preserving Hip Hop Kulture for future generations.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES.

Right now I'm studying & in my 2nd year of a sound engineering and production degree, here in Plymouth U.K.
At the moment I'm learning how to use a 'Studer' 24 track tape recorder in conjunction wit a 'Neve' 70's TV studio mixing console, with the incredible engineering veteran & luminary Ray Hendriksen. He's an inspiring teacher & understands the itricacies of recording and engineering processes in the analogue & digital domains. I'm interested in his techniques of recording & mic placement because he has engineered some of the old '70 tunes that have 'Drum Breaks' on them. I'm using 'Drum Breaks' when I programme on the drum machine to make beats so it's fascinating when you have first hand advice on the process to achieve certain acoustic results through a combination of microphone placement, effects and recording processes. I'm also learning about acoustic environments and the techniques and materials used to treat a room so it is ideal for monitoring music without the room colouring the sound. Problem areas can be corners of a room where there is a build up of bass frequencies, resulting in a boost to bass frequency. A mix needs to be as precise as possible so that it can be translated by many formats such as, car stereo, home Hi-Fi, night club system!

I'm involved with 'Temple Of Hip Hop' archiving the Hip Hop history of my area. Co-ordinated by the 'Templist' Kurt Nice, who has a weekly live show on sundays @ 11am EST / 4pm GMT, where we discuss Hip Hop culture and spirituality. I originally started a 'Facebook' group  for the purpose of archiving Hip Hop in my area. The ongoing support has been outstanding & we are well on the way to getting a solid foundation for the roots of the culture in my area, as well as documenting the current activities taking place. The hub for this information is now up and running, so it's only a matter of time before Hip Hop on a global scale is archived. The archive is called 'Hip Hop Lives'. If you would like to get involved to archive Hip Hop in your area, please contact us !

I have a weekly online 'Livestream webcast' which I run with my 'Templist' brother 'IGI B' who is based in Switzerland. We supply the finest Hip Hop cuts every wednesday @ 2-4pm EST / 7-9pm GMT. Come & join the chatroom or just listen in for some good vibes & conversation!

Peace......
